LBH589 sensitized human NSCLC to the cytotoxic effects of ionizing radiation. Furthermore, this compound synergistically enhanced radiation induced apoptosis, delayed tumor growth in vivo, and prolonged the duration of radiation induced γ-H2AX foci. The mechanism of radiosensitization is likely due to a direct effect on the repair of DNA double-strand breaks.
