About the Presenter:
Brigitta G. Baumert, MD, PhD, is a staff member in the Department of Radiation Oncology (MAASTRO) at the University Hospital Maastricht in The Netherlands. Dr. Baumert earned her Medical Degree at Albert-Ludwigs-Universitat, Freiburg, Germany. She trained in radiation oncology in Switzerland. For her specialization in neuro-oncology and stereotactic radiotherapy, she later spent time as a research fellow at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, England. Brigitta Baumert is an active investigator in the area of stereotactic radiotherapy and neuro-oncology. She is the principal investigator of the EORTC joint trial with the ROG, BTG, and NCI-Canada on the treatment of patients with low-grade glioma. Other areas of interest are technical developments such as intensity-modulated radiotherapy and new diagnostic imaging tools (eg, PET-CT for radiation oncology).
