About the Presenter:
James A. Purdy, Ph.D., FACMP, FAAPM, FACR is Professor and Vice Chair at the University California, Davis Medical Centerís Department of Radiation Oncology, and head of its Physics Section. Dr. Purdyís research is directed toward image-based treatment planning and conformal radiation therapy including the development and implementation of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), and associated quality assurance (QA). Over the past 30 plus years in the field, he has authored or co-authored 158 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 129 additional book chapters and symposium proceedings articles. In addition, he has edited 9 textbooks. He is the Principal Investigator for the NIH supported Advanced Technology QA Consortium (ATC) and Director of the Image-Guided Therapy QA Center (ITC), which supports advanced technology clinical trials quality assurance.
